Company profile

PERLA Cotton Mills, a. s. maintains a tradition of textile manufacture that goes back more than 150 years, while taking advantage of the newest technology. Its chief products are cotton fabrics and PES/cotton and cotton/flax blended fabrics and also, to a limited extent, furnishing fabrics.

History

PERLA Inc. was established on 1 January 1994 on the basis of a privatisation project. Perla perpetuates the tradition of textile manufacture in Ústí that started as early as in the 16th century.

The production plants of our company were mostly founded in the last century. The most significant founders of factory textile production in the Ústí region were the Hernych and the Jandera families. Their firms, established in 1844 and 1862, laid the foundations of the long tradition. In 1945, the textile firms merged to form the United Czech and Moravian Cotton Mills State Enterprise, Ústí nad Orlicí. Following several reorganisations, the UTEX State Enterprise was established in 1949.

Following a merger with the PERLA State Enterprise in Česká Třebová in 1958, the PERLA State Enterprise, based in Ústí nad Orlicí, came into existence. On 1 July 1989, the national corporation was transformed into the PERLA Cotton Mills State Enterprise. At the time of the foundation of the PERLA state enterprise, the firm had 5,239 employees and 15 production plants, plus its factory headquarters and a computer centre.

Today PERLA Cotton Mills, a.s. has 3 production plants, plus the company headquarters, and 150 employees.
